Let's talk about eggs baby, let’s talk about you and me, let’s talk about all the good things and the bad things that may be, let’s talk about eggs….ok, ok so that may have been a little corny, but you know you laughed a little. I want to talk about one of my favorite things I used to be able to eat especially for breakfast. Eggs. For those of us immersed in the fitness industry, these little things are like a source of life! They pack plenty of complete protein and you can use them in cooking with just about anything. Hard boil them, scramble them, make some crazy hipster omelet out of them, and use them in making healthier recispes for things like french toast, pancakes, and baked goods. Heck, you can even put an egg white in a few cocktails such as a flip and a whiskey or amaretto sour. However, since I enjoy eating most of my calories, alcohol is consumed in a very limited amount. In my personal opinion, I think eggs are amazing! I used to eat them just about every day. I usually used more egg whites than I did whole eggs so I can eat more diverse fats (coconut oil and avocados), but I still had my fair share of one of nature’s many edible gifts.

You may be asking yourself right now "Why is he using past tense?" Well, unfortunately I developed a pretty common food allergy and can no longer eat eggs. Trust me, I just shed a tear, but I'll make due. This article is for those of you who can enjoy these wonderful protein and omega fatty acid packed blessings to their fullest! So, let's not get sympathetic for me and carry on with why eggs are amazing!

Let’s get to the meat of things shall we. Many people argue that eating the yolks are bad for you because of the high levels of cholesterol in them. Well, funny thing about science is that eventually someone uncovers the real truth. According to an article in The Huffington Post written by John Berardi Ph.D. (nutritional biochemist) our bodies work a little differently than what we’ve been led to believe. Our bodies already produce cholesterol and the cholesterol we eat has very little impact on how much cholesterol is actually in our blood. When you eat more cholesterol from foods like eggs your body actually produces less of it. When you eat less cholesterol, it’s the opposite. Your body produces more naturally. I love science! Especially nutritional science! There are many benefits to eating eggs and I’ll attach the whole article so that you can read all about them.

In closing, don’t get so “paranoid” when it comes to eating foods with cholesterol. With that being said, it doesn’t give you a pass to go out and enter an egg eating contest! Next time you find yourself thinking of egging your annoying neighbors house, maybe hold onto that precious little gift and think about cracking it over a skillet instead.
